The next thing you need is yarn or fibers to weave with. You can use a ton of different kinds of yarn. Examples include wool, cotton, or even silk. Just be sure that the Weaving Loom yarn you select is thick enough for your peg loom size. This is significant because the yarn must be the appropriate thickness to properly use, otherwise, it will be difficult to weave if overly thick
SO LET’S DISCUSS WARPING YOUR LOOM! Warping is the process of attaching your yarn to the loom so that you can begin to weave. For this, you will want to tie one end of the yarn to the first peg. Next, slowly wind the yarn around each peg until the last peg. When you reach the last peg, knot it to hold it in, and clip any excess yarn you will not need. This one is super key to do properly as it sets up everything for the weaving!
Now you can start weaving! Grab the yarn you want to weave with and thread it over and under each loop of your yarn. Continue to weave back and forth across the Textile Machinery loom. While you’re weaving, it helps to push down each set of stitches you make with your hand or a comb to tighten and the stitches. This will make your final project look neat
The fabulous thing about peg loom weaving is that you can create so many different projects! You could make rugs, blankets, coasters, pretty wall hangings and so on! There are literally infinite combinations of designs you can choose from! You can create something that is special and unique to you using different colors and patterns.
Consider the kind of mood you hope to evoke with your Needle Loom Machine weaving. For instance, a warm rug can create a room that is feeling happy and full of energy. However, an earth color wall hanging can surround a space with calm and serenity. In fact, you can even blend different yarns and colors together for a different look — one that gives you the opportunity to show off your personality!
Imagine making textiles that are uniquely yours with peg loom weaving! Experiment with different patterns, such as plain weave, basket weave and twill. These patterns are all distinct and allow you to add visual interest to your work. You can add texture even further by choosing yarns that are of varying thickness, or threading ribbons and strips of fabric into your weaving.
If you’re looking to add some more pizzazz to your weaving, try a squeak technique. This is such a fun, decorative technique where you wrap your yarn around pairs of threads. It can generate some nice looking designs! You will also have to knot the threads to add a fringe to the end of your weaving, which is a nice finishing touch.
